Captain Manchester burst onto the scenes back in October 2013. No one knew who is was, what his aims were, and why he was wearing an ill-fitting black and red superhero outfit and a very questionable looking mask.
It was finally revealed on Granada Reports that Captain Manchester was in fact all part of well executed awareness campaign, delivered for Forever Manchester by Tunafish Media.
The Captain Manchester character depicts an ordinary person doing extraordinary things in his local community, joining the many thousands of dedicated local people doing extraordinary things for the benefit of their local community.
Over the last couple of years several artists and designers have created different variations of the Captain to help boost the profile of Forever Manchester.
Artist James Chapman explains:
"I had a lot of fun illustrating Captain Manchester. My image shows the Captain running at speed spreading his acts of kindness across Greater Manchester"
